Your Liver and Your Skincare Routine

What do the two have to do with each other? What many people forget is that your skin is also an organ, with essential functions just like all of the other organs in your body. Your skin is your first defense against invading environmental organisms. There are four main routes of absorption; inhalation, digestion, injection and dermal (skin and mucous membrane) absorption. Your skin helps break down toxins by essentially "sifting" them through the cell layers of the skin, in an attempt to minimalize what enters your blood stream and what effects the different functioning systems.

After your skin completes its job and whatever chemicals (good or bad) are left to enter your blood stream, the circulatory system carries the byproduct through your body at an attempt to further breakdown and either use that chemical for beneficiary use by storing it, or creating a waste from it and further excreting it.

The chemical passes through each of the essential organs, including the liver. The liver is responsible for filtering toxins and storing what can be used for the body. Sometimes, toxins reap havoc on the organ and bad habits can break down the organ and its ability to work effectively.

In one instance, the chemicals entering your body can be deposited into the liver, they can weaken the liver over time, and in an attempt to remove the chemical, it can be pushed back out through the skin and cause surface problems such as acne, dermatitis, cysts, boils, eczema, psoriasis, fungal infections, and much more, including cancer

Products such as lotions and creams, moisturizers, artificial tanners, soaps and body washes, scrubs, oils and bath products like bath bombs and bubbles, all enter your body and effect your organs and liver. Paying attention to your labels are extremely crucial to your overall health. Focusing on all the aspects of your body's absorption avenues can save you from suffering from preventable issues.  Everything you put on or in your body is feeding a disease, or fighting it. When you have a natural and organic beauty regimen, you benefit from beautiful skin and a healthier future.
